Choose the method your course uses
In total-points mode, all included earned points are divided by all included possible points. In weighted mode, assessments are first combined within each category, then the category percentages are multiplied by their weights. Category weights must total exactly 100%.
A weighted-grade example
Coursework at 90% with a 40% weight contributes 36 percentage points. An exam at 80% with a 60% weight contributes 48. Together, the course grade is 84%. If the exam has not been graded, the current grade is 90% and the tool reports 40% category-weight coverage.
Blank, ungraded and missing are different
A graded row needs an earned score, including an explicit zero if no points were earned. Mark future work as Ungraded. Mark overdue or absent work as Missing, then decide whether to count it as zero. Completed-course mode requires every row to be resolved.
Category-weight coverage is the share of category weights represented by graded work. It is not a measure of how many assignments, hours or course requirements have been completed. This calculator does not drop the lowest score or replace assessments.
